Welcome to the Practical Japanese Class of IFAI (International Friendship Association of Ibaraki ) Website!

We are a Japanese volunteer group that supports non-native Japanese speakers living in Ibaraki or surrounding areas. We can help you learn Japanese as well as provide mental support so that you are not isolated from our communities.

The Japanese classes are held at Ibaraki City Hall, South Building 8F, on Thursday [13:30 - 15:00] and on Friday [10:00 - 11:30] each week. It is a one-to-one system, so you can start anytime regardless of your Japanese level.

About Us

Name	Practical Japanese Class of IFAI (International Friendship Association of Ibaraki)
Foundation	March, 1999: "Japanese Class Preparatory Committee" was set up at IIN (Ibaraki Intercultural Network) of IFAI (International Friendship Association of Ibaraki), later separated from IIN. May 11th, 2002: "Practical Japanese Class" was established as one of the subordinate organizations of IFAI.
Aim	We aim to promote international exchange by helping non-native Japanese speakers living in local communities learn practical Japanese through volunteer activities.

Activities	（１）Support of Japanese language study The Japanese classes are held at Ibaraki City Hall, South Building 8F every Thursday and Friday. （２）Various study sessions for supporters We organize a short course for new supporters on the 1st Thursday & Friday of each month and study meetings on the 4th Thursday & Friday of each month. （３）Promotion of cross-cultural exchange We organize various events such as cooking or excursion to promote relationship with learners. We join international programs at elementary schools or junior high schools to help children learn foreign culture. We join and support various events organized by IFAI.

Enrollment Information

Please contact us by phone (only Japanese is available) or by e-mail (any language), or directly come to see us at Ibaraki City Hall while the class is open (See our class schedule).

Fee:	￥2,000 for 6 months (90-minute lesson per week) 　＊Textbooks are at cost. 　＊Ask us if you would like to start in the middle of the term. 　＊The \2,000 fee once paid will not be refunded.
